Welcome to Trojan Territory

Over the course of the last few months, the McDowell Hockey Club  has been meeting with coaches and members of the McDowell hockey community to find the vision and leadership that could catapult this program to the next level and ensure that it remains both successful and sustainable well into the future.  We are confident that we have found those attributes in former McDowell stand-out, Sean Perhacs.
Coach Perhacs is a Counselor with the Erie School District.  He started his hockey career with the Erie Youth Hockey travel program and was a member of McDowell's AAA PIHL team in each of his four years of High School.  As a forward for the Trojans, Coach Perhacs was an integral part of McDowell teams that played in the Western Pennsylvania Finals at the Junior Varsity level and in the Quarter Finals of the PIHL Penguins Cup at the Varsity level.  He went on to play hockey collegiately as a four year member of the St. Bonaventure University Division I Club Hockey program.  When Coach Perhacs returned home to Erie to work on his Masters Degree, he took on an Assistant Coaching position with the Erie Lions U16 girls team, a challenge he has greatly enjoyed. that team earned spots as Mid-American District Finalists in each of the last two years.  As word spread about McDowell's retooled Middle School program under Coach Shawn Conrad, Perhacs set his sights on returning to his alma mater.
As a McDowell alum, Sean's passion and intensity for restoring the stature of our High School program was a prominent factor in his selection.  He is committed to the growth and development of our players and the long-term advancement of our program.  Upon notification of our interest in Coach Perhacs for this position, McDowell Assistant Athletic Director and long time McDowell Hockey Booster, Rich Rohan shared that, "Sean's enthusiasm, vast knowledge of the game and ambition to mentor young athletes makes him a perfect fit to help promote and transition our storied 42 year-old program into a new and exciting chapter of renewed growth and success.  We are truly fortunate to have one of our own former players ready to pass on the long-standing hockey tradition of Trojan pride and excellence."
Throughout the final stages of the interview process, Coach Perhacs began working directly with the team.  It was immediately evident that the players were quickly buying into his vision for the future.  In Coach Conrad's recommendation of Sean for the Head Coach position, he informed the Board that "The players are responding to his energy.  He is the kind of Coach that began making an impact on this team the second he stepped on the ice.  He's going to challenge them to reach their potential, and they are ready for it.  The program is ready for it."
The Board of Directors shares this excitement and we are proud to announce Coach Perhacs' selection.  We are looking forward to what our High School team has the potential to achieve under his leadership.
